Jonathan Hughes
After a highly successful 10-year career in Industrial Biotechnology research, Managing Director Dr Jonathan Hughes gained his MBA and moved into global strategic marketing roles in some of the world’s largest chemical companies. Jonathan created Pennotec (Pennog Ltd) in recognition of growing market demand for more environmentally sustainable solutions and has built a successful Circular Economy business. A ‘sea dog’ at heart, Jonathan is never happier fishing or swimming around the beautiful North Wales coast.
Sue Dentley
Sue graduated from Plymouth University with a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Science as a mature student, joining Pennotec in 2017 as the company’s Environmental Scientist. She has gained a breadth of experience in diverse roles within the company. Progressing from Laboratory Scientist to Product Manager responsible for technical enquiries and marketing of new products and technologies. Sue describes her ‘happy place’ as being out and about in her self-built camper van, enjoying wild swimming spots and beaches around her stunning new homeland of North Wales.
Lydia Dawson Jones
Upon joining Pennotec in 2020 Lydia completed a Degree Apprenticeship in Applied Mechanical Engineering Systems. As Pennotec’s Project Engineer, Lydia has continued to expand her breadth of engineering knowledge through further training and education in chemical and biochemical engineering. In her spare time, Lydia enjoys wildlife photography.
Mark Hughes
Mark Hughes joined Pennotec in 2021 as Laboratory Assistant and completed his apprenticeship in Sustainable Resource Management in 2022. As Pennotec’s lead Laboratory Technician Mark is responsible for laboratory Health & Safety and environmental surveys in the field. He has gained experience and education whilst working at Pennotec including external CPD in wastewater treatment and ecological audits. Mark is at his happiest when he is at the tops of the highest peaks or exploring deep underground in old mines and quarries in the North Wales region.
Evie Mainwaring
Evie graduated with an MSc in Marine Biology from Bangor University. During her Masters project, Evie developed digestion techniques to quantify Microplastics in Mangrove sediments in the Philippines. She joined Pennotec as a Laboratory Assistant in 2024 to develop her lab skills and gain experience in a scientific career. Evie takes pleasure in playing for North Wales Ladies cricket and putting on a drysuit to discover the wonders of the underwater marine environments.
