In support of Welsh Government’s Agri-tech Action Plan for Wales, and with the support of the Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI) Centre of Excellence based in Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board in Wales, we have been awarded a 3-month contract to develop and test our innovative, environmentally sustainable material for the recovery of phosphate from food manufacturing process water and farming wastewater.
Together with 13 other exciting and innovate projects, our ‘Nutrient Recovery for Agriculture’ Phase 1 SBRI project aims to deliver environmental benefits using a Circular Economy approach to decarbonisation of food manufacture and farming in Wales.
In cooperation with South Caernarfon Creameries and the local farming community we will determine the techno-economic feasibility of recovering nutrients, particularly phosphates, from farm and dairy wastewater and evaluate its suitability for conversion into fertiliser.
