Why Sustainable?

  • Sustainable products - We remove algae from ponds, lakes and natural pools using natural, safe and biodegradable products.
  • Sustainable outcomes - Our Trap Algae system returns water that is clean and free of the pollutants that cause eutrophication to recur.
  • Long-term sustainability - Algae that is 'trapped and recovered by our process makes great compost - returning valuable nutrients to the soil.

Key Features

A permanent solution

Our sustainably-manufactured chitosan (pronounced kai-toe-zan) formulations are natural ‘magnets’ for algae and the phosphate and nitrate nutrients in water, which cause them to grow – aka eutrophication.

Improving soil health

Unlike chemical algicides Trap Algae does not break-up or destroy algae, causing nutrients to be released. We capture algae ‘whole’ and concentrate into a nutrient-rich,  compostable, soil health amendment product.

Zero Environmental Impact

Trap Algae requires little energy and is scalable - from garden ponds to reservoirs. Our equipment ensures minimum impact on nature – wildlife is preserved and habitats maintained.

Arfor

We are grateful for the £100,000 of support awarded in January 2024 by the ARFOR Challenge Fund, which has allowed us to test and develop Trap Algae as a service solution for ponds and lakes in the ARFOR region of Anglesey, Gwynedd, Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire, and beyond.

ARFOR support aims to generate wealth in areas considered Welsh language heartlands through the creation of opportunities for:

  • Innovation and new enterprise.
  • Modern employment roles.
  • Wealth retention.

In line with local resources, the landscape and environment.
